It takes place after the events of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig and before Netflix's CGI animated Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045. In 2008, DreamWorks and producer Steven Spielberg acquired the rights to a live-action film adaptation of the original Ghost in the Shell manga. It wasn’t the greatest movie ever made but it was entertaining and had a pretty respectable collections of cars featured in it.
